Say "Wii" for Capoeira Moves

A new game is coming out for the Wii (among other systems) where you get to exercise all the capoeira moves you like. There are two things that stick out from this article.

1. This isn't just a fighting game. It has RPG elements, so you build a character over time. You can train, fight, bet on illegal rodas, you name it!

2. Since this is coming out on the Wii, that means that you'll be using more than just your thumbs to play. You'll use the special "nunchuk" controllers to execute moves, meaning your arms will be swinging wildly as you bust up your opponents with your individual capoeira moves.

Capoeira Moves Wyclef Jean

Wyclef Jean has capoeira moves in his latest song - and the lyrics win the dubious label of "terrible" by NOW magazine.
capoeira moves"The two albums share qualities: natural production, original, heavy instrumentation, an eclectic sensibility and the occasional terrible lyric. Take the best song, the epic Welcome To The East, featuring Sizzla: She's dancing the capoeira. I see her in Brazil. Her cry sounds like 7 million violins. Knowing that her man won't be back tomorrow, she cries, is the bridge. The phrase You don't gotta be no millionaire to get a ticket up to the moonÉ almost spoils an otherwise sweet Paul Simon connection on Fast Car." [link]
Ok, so maybe the song won't win any awards but I'm happy any time I see capoeira in pop culture.

Can Goldberg do Capoeira Moves?

Former WCW wrestling champ Bill Goldberg may be bringing a mei lua de compasso and other capoeira moves to an MMA ring near you. He had this to say in recent interview when asked how he got into mixed martial arts:

"I went out and spent thousands upon thousands of dollars during the onset of my wrestling career to get every MMA tape I could find. From Sambo to Capoeira to Jiu-Jitsu to every single thing I could find. I pulled old UWF tapes, old Pancrase tapes; I've studied these guys from top to bottom, and felt as if I learned a little bit about the guys at the same time."

I was a WWF fan back in the late 90s so I was never crazy about Goldberg (I thought he was trying to be too much like Stone Cold). But maybe that would have changed if I saw him doing some cartwheels and headstands in the ring!
